People sometimes complain that we are doing good deeds but cannot see the benefit. A classic example is when Allah Ta’ala states that Salaah repels wrongdoing and evil, and yet this does not happen in the case of a sinner. It is thus safe to say that the power and force of dispelling evil can only be effective when “disobedience to Allah Ta’ala” and “wrongdoings for shaitaan’s pleasure” are firmly eradicated.

In the absence of sincere repentance (tauba), evil will always regerminate and become deeply rooted in the life of a Mu’min. A good analogy is that of a tank/container filled with water. Even after good torrential rainfall, the tank does not fill up to its capacity.

Ah, upon taking a closer look, it’s found that the tank has a leak at the bottom. Naturally, the outcome will always be a tank that is not filled to the top. Similar is the status of a person who is “Allah-conscious”, and “Allah-fearing”, but he is still involved in disobedience and sinning.

How then the can Noor (light) from his good deeds remain? It’s absolutely necessary for him to stop disobedience and sinning and avoid the dis…appearance of the noor.

Even if a person does only little acts of good, but he stays away from sins … then his status is much greater than the person who does loads of good acts, but also indulges in sins.

Disobedience and sins destroy and burn good deeds like an inferno gobbling up dry hay.
