Much has been written about the subject of Gheebat (backbiting). The Ulama and other scholars continue to condemn this contagious ailment that is rife among all walks of life. The ongoing condemnation of this scourge in society is exactly the reason why so much is spoken about it and why so much is written about this plague from time to time.
Allah Ta’ala loves His creation. Allah Ta’ala cannot see any harm … physically or mentally … being inflicted to anyone. This is more especially to a Believer, one who has declared Wahdãniyyat of Allah (Azza wa Jalla) --- i.e. the Oneness of Allah (Shaanuhu).
What is termed as Huqooq-ul –‘Ibaad, (the rights of others), is perhaps the most integral component of a human being’s principle beliefs, after fulfilling the rights of Allah (Tabaraka wa Ta’ala) --- (Huqooq-ul-Allah). Unfortunately, many people are unmindful and negligent of the rights of others.
Even today in Makkah the 5,400 years old ritual is being practised with full enthusiasm. The holy Kaaba is covered with new kiswa (cover) every year on the 10th Dhu Al Hijjah, which coincides with Haj. It was a custom started by the Prophet Ismail (Pubh) 4000 years before the origin of Islam.
