Abu Zar (رضي الله عنه) reports that Nabi (ﷺ) said :
“Do not regard any good (deed) as small / low, and if one cannot do anything (from the good deeds) then at least, with the intention of rewards, meet your (Muslim) brother happily.” (Musnad-e-Ahmad)
This hadith strongly encourages people to do good deeds irrespective of the magnitude of the action.
One should not be impressed by only performing the bigger duties of the Shariah and disregarding the smaller deeds … thinking of them as low. The hadith points out that meeting a Muslim brother gleefully, cheerfully and happily is an enormously good deed. Although, outwardly not a big act … for those who appreciate and value it, it signals an independent and a great reward.
