From the Fatwa Department

Q. My husband and I have been through multiple separations, sometimes for months. Currently we have not been together and not seen or spoken to each other for an entire year. We have not been together physically. Does it mean our marriage is terminated?
Q: What is the ruling with regards to using the verse of the Quran, the Azan, Zikr, etc. as a ring tone on the mobile phone?
Q: Are matric farewell functions allowed?
Q: Kindly advise if participation in bodybuilding allowed in Islam?

A: Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is reported to have said: “To Allah belongs what He has given, and to Him belongs what He has taken. Everything has an appointed time by Him. Therefore adopt patience and have hope for reward.”

Q: Can Moulana be used a term of reverence for a Islamic Scholar. I have been told that no country uses “Moulana” title, but rather the ‘Mullahs’ have adopted for themselves the honorific title of “Maulana” (which means, Our protector, Our Lord, Our Master) which has the most serious un-Islamic connotation of placing another with the Almighty.
