Together with the virtues there are certain important etiquette which need to be observed. Some are listed below:

1. Visit the sick solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala, to earn the rewards mentioned and to console the person.

2. Do not lengthen the visit. One should keep the visit short unless the sick person requests one to stay longer.

3. Commence by making Salam and asking about the person's health.

4. One should encourage the sick person with good words and be careful not to say anything which may cause him to despair and lose hope.
