No father can give his child a better gift than good manners and proper upbringing.

Hazrat Ayyub bin Musa (Rahimahullah) narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “No father has given his child a better gift than good manners and proper upbringing.” (Tirmizi 1952; Shu’abul Iman 8284)

Better than Charity

Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah (Radiyallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah ﷺ said: “By Allah! A man teaching his children good manners is better for him than giving one Saa’ in charity.” (Tirmizi 1951; Shu’abul Iman 8288)

Hazrat Anas bin Malik R narrates that Rasulullah ﷺ said: “Value your children and teach them good manners and noble character.” (Ibn Majah 3671)

The Greatest Inheritance

From all the favours we bestow upon our children, the most precious inheritance is correct upbringing, beneficial education and good character.

Parents therefore have a responsibility to invest time, effort and attention in developing their children's faith, behaviour, manners, values and social etiquette. These qualities shape not only the child's personality, but also their relationships, contribution to society and ultimately their success in both worlds.

A child may inherit a lot of wealth, but the greatest legacy a parent can leave behind is a child with good character.
