Removal of Unwanted Hair

The following Hadith brings this to our attention: Hazrat Aisha (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Ten things are amongst the natural acts: trimming the moustache, lengthening the beard, using a Miswak, inserting water into the nose and cleaning it, washing the joints of the fingers, removal of the hair of the armpits, removal of the hair below the navel, istinja (cleaning the private areas) and gargling the mouth.” (Muslim, Abu Dawood, Tirmizi, Nasai, Ibn Majah)

Unwanted hair should be removed every week, or fortnight, preferably on a Friday. It should not be allowed to remain for more than 40 days as stated in the Hadith.

Hazrat Anas (RA) narrates, “The time limit for clipping the nails and removing unwanted hair is that we should not leave it for more than 40 days.” (Muslim)
