Estate distribution is not a matter of discretion

A disobedient child or one who cuts off ties with his/her parents cannot be disowned and deprived of his/her Shari' share. Whilst such behaviour of the child is unlawful and cannot be condoned, the child remains a rightful heir. The same will apply to the father. He will inherit in all circumstances.

Allah Ta'ala concludes the verses regarding the laws of inheritance with a severe warning:

“These are the limits of Allah … Whoever disobeys Allah and His Rasul (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and exceeds Allah's limits, Allah will put him into Jahannum forever …” (Suratun Nisaa)
