Giving Fidya Before Ramadan

Q: A person is chronically ill and is unable to fast. Can one discharge the required amount (Fidyah) before the commencement of the month of Ramadan?

A: In the enquired scenario, the required amount for Fidyah can only be discharged for the upcoming month of Ramadan once the month of Ramadan has commenced. Once the month has commenced, Fidyah maybe discharged per day or for the entire month at once.

If a person has discharged this amount prior to the commencement of the month of Ramadan, then this amount has to be discharged again.
