The cable car ride will span over 67,000m², starting from the “Hira Cultural Complex” which hosts a multitude of modern facilities such as exhibitions, educational models, and logistical services.
Hira Cave is at an altitude of 634 metres, and is the location where the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) received the first Quranic revelation. It is a landmark of deep religious significance for the Muslim population globally.
However, the project was also met with concern for the spiritual journey of climbing up towards the Hira Cave and the replacement of it with convenient and comfortable technologies. Because of this, specialists have called for the traditional route to remain open, and for the addition of safety and healthcare services, rest stops, as well as narrations documenting the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)’s experience in the Hira Cave.
