Teenage pregnancies – with a specific focus on school-going learners – has a detrimental effect on school attendance, academic performance, emotional behaviour and relationships between pregnant teenagers, their peers and educators.
Any form of educational and social outreach from parents and communities towards school-going learners are always of benefit.
On Sunday, 11 October 2020 the Ekupheleni Care Foundation based in Illovo hosted a programme to encourage school-going leaners – both girls and boys – of proper and dignified behaviour and good morals particularly in view of avoiding pre-marital sex.
The greater Illovo community embraced the programme with over a thousand people attending with many expressing their appreciation of such educational outreaches to the community.
