Life Changing Advices for Daughters of the Ummah

My dear daughters and sisters in Islam

I wish to address you exclusively and pray that you will take these words to heart. Please listen attentively and revise this lesson regularly.

A woman is blessed with unique qualities

O daughters, you are the manifestation of Allah’s Greatness and Mercy on earth and you are the honour of your homes. Allah Ta’ala has gifted you with tremendous spiritual potential and beautiful inner qualities.

You have been blessed with special bounties of love, loyalty, sacrifice, self-annihilation and service to others. Allah has instilled these qualities in you and infused within you the attribute of living and dying for others, for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala. These unique qualities are the speciality of a woman and rarely found in others.

You possess natural qualities of a mother

As an infant and a young girl, Allah Ta’ala has created you to be a mother (one who brings light and honour to a home). This quality of motherhood has been instilled within you since childhood. As a child, unknowingly you play with your toy doll, feed it and put it to sleep, not knowing that it is the future mother within you that is making you do this.

The miracle of Hazrat Maryam (Alayhas Salaam)

Let us reflect on the miracle of Hazrat Maryam (Alayhas Salaam). She was not married when Allah Ta’ala miraculously granted her a son. After giving birth to her son, she came to her community with her infant, Nabi Esa u. When her people saw her with a baby in her hands, what did they say? O Maryam! Your parents are noble, how could you have committed such an ‘immoral’ act? Note how the people attributed her actions and its consequences to her noble parents. In their ignorance of the reality, they directed the dishonour of such an act to the parents of Hazrat Maryam (Alayhas Salaam).

The respect and honour of the entire household is dependent on the honour of its womenfolk. When a young girl tarnishes her chastity and damages her reputation, inevitably the honour of the parent’s and her family is at stake. I advise you, O my daughters, the quality of love that you possess within your hearts needs direction. It must be given expression in a chaste and permissible manner.

A mother lives for others

Then, once you become a mother, you stop living for yourself, now you start living for your children. This is the most unique quality of a mother, she sacrifices herself for the comfort and well being of her children and family.

The day you get married, you start living for the happiness of your husband. You read his facial expressions and respond to his emotions. If he is happy you are happy. If he is unhappy for any reason you are unhappy as well. These are unique qualities instilled within you. You need to recognise the special status Allah Ta’ala has given you, regardless if others appreciate you or not.

Understand your worth and recognise your identity.

O my daughters - What is your real identity?

Your true identity is that of honour, affection and sympathy.

Your tears flow quickly, your heart is soft and beats quickly, you are able to endure pain and sadness, and you are unwilling to express or display your inner grief.

It is sad that today women aspire to be like men. If only a woman understood her great status, she will be content and grateful to Almighty Allah, and never dissatisfied.

The best quality of a woman

Once Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) asked the Sahabah (R) “What is most superior quality in a woman”? Hazrat Ali (R) went home and requested Hazrat Fatima (RA) for the answer.

Hazrat Fatima (RA) replied, “The best quality of a woman is for her not to see (strange) men, and for her not to be seen by (strange) men”.

When Hazrat Ali (R) related this answer to Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) he enquired who gave this answer? Hazrat Ali (R) replied that the answer was given by Hazrat Fatima (RA).

Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) exclaimed in happiness “Fatima is a part of me” – meaning that being from the household of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) she possessed this wisdom and modesty. (Musnad Bazzar)

Be cautious and vigilant

Daughters and young sisters, conduct yourselves with caution and purpose. Be vigilant and wary of your thoughts, feelings and actions. Never do anything that will tarnish the honour of your parents. The impact of misdeeds of the daughter upon the parents’ hearts is unbearable.

Recognise the rank of your mother

Learn about the rank, dignity and honour of your mother whilst she is alive. Be of service as much as possible to your mother, care for her, respect her and assist her in her daily duties as well.

Remember, honour and chastity is such a quality that once it leaves you, it never returns.

Allah Ta’ala say in the Noble Quran, “And do not venture anywhere close to Zina (fornication), for verily it is a shameful evil deed, opening the road (to other evils). (Surah Bani Israeel – Verse 32)
