After he passed away Hazrat Umar (R) offered Hafsa in marriage to Hazrat Abu Bakr (R) but he remained silent. Thereafter he offered her in marriage to Hazrat Uthman ibn Affan (R) but he declined. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) proposed for her and married to her in 3 A.H.
She passed away in 45 A.H. aged approximately 63.
On one occasion Jibreel u came to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and said, “Hafsa keeps a lot of Nafl fast and performs a lot of Nafl Salah and she is your wife in Jannah.”
(Musnad Bazzar, Mu'jamul Kabeer lit Tabrani)
The Sahaba were indeed shining stars, beacons of guidance and the best role models for the rest of humanity. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) encouraged us to hold onto the example of the Sahabah and use them as guidance.
Ummul Mu'mineen Hazrat Hafsa bint Umar (RA)
