12 000 pushed into matric

The Editor

The headline article “12 000 pushed into matric,” The Mercury, Wednesday, March 25, 2015 refers.

The national education department’s ‘progression policy’ and, in particular, the report presented by the Head of the KZN Education Department, Mr Nkosinathi Sishi, stating that the ‘policy’ is under review - must not shift from what the salient issue is – that schoolchildren must get the best education via an equitable and accessible education system for all in terms of facilities and certainly in terms of requiring “well-trained and motivated” teachers.

At the end of the day our education system must not fail our children – the future of our country.
