On Saturday, 1 June 2024, the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre’s ‘Sponsor A Blanket Project: Winter Warmth’ continued across the Free State province after last week’s successful drive in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape.
The team began distributions at the Sterkfontein Dam viewing deck, giving blankets to local vendors in need of blankets and snack packs, who received the items with gratitude.
With a warm welcome from their host at QwaQwa Islamic Centre next, the team travelled to Makwane; a small village in the area. There, they were met with a local team who afforded them the opportunity to discuss the work done at the Darul Ihsan Centre. A total of 112 blankets and snack packs were thereafter distributed to residents in the area.
Impressed with the team’s efficient work, the hosts welcomed a partnership between the Darul Ihsan Centre and QwaQwa Islamic Centre on various future projects. After some meaningful discussions between them, the team then dispatched to Harrismith, in which 50 blankets were distributed and received with heartfelt appreciation.
With the grace and mercy of Allah, the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre strives to continue work like this to give back to destitute and deserving communities, especially during the coming cold months.
