On Saturday, 23 March, the Daughters of the Ummah (DOU), the sisters youth initiative of Darul Ihsan Centre, hosted the event ‘Fikr for Zikr’; an enlightening programme centred around nourishing the soul during this holy month of Ramadan.Over 60 Muslimah youth attended the event – aged between 14-20 – which took place at the Darul Ihsan Centre in Sea Cow Lake.
The programme opened with a welcome and Qir'at, followed by attendees working together to make one completion of the Qur'an during this time. Attendees also participated in a date decorating event, in which sisters were provided dates, along with a variety of delicious fillings and toppings, inspiring their creative sides.
Where one activity fostered empowerment of the soul through Quran recitation and teamwork, the other sparked introspection and appreciation for the many bounties and wonders provided by Allah.
Following these engagements was a short talk by the Ameer of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre; Mufti Zubair Bayat; on the importance for love and eagerness for Zikr. He also listed the plentiful benefits of Zikr in this world as well as the next.
The event ended with a Q&A event, in which helpful and informative answers were shared.
The Darul Ihsan Youth Initiative events are free to attend and can be accessed by prior arrangement via the Darul Ihsan Centre.
