In collaboration with the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre, AIR Relief is pleased to announce the details of water distribution as of week 10 of 2024.
Areas affected by the water crisis include Tongaat, Verulam, Chesterville, Parlock, Phoenix, and parts of Westville. Reasons for these severe water shortages have been exacerbated by several different challenges, including problematic infrastructure, union strikes, and sabotage.
In an effort to help those affected, AIR Relief has distributed 1350 units of 5-litre drinking water to targeted households over the period of 1 week.
The weekly provision of clean drinking water has helped alleviate suffering and immensely improved the wellbeing of those affected; especially vulnerable groups, such as children and the elderly.
Recognising the ongoing need for accessible water, AIR Relief implemented the “Sustainable Water Distribution Programme”.
Through this pilot programme, an additional 4000 litres of water is made available, per week, to communities through strategically placed water points. By using local service providers and assets, the programme has empowered communities and continues to foster local partnerships.
The ongoing nature of these challenges require sustained support and collaborative efforts to ensure these communities are provided with essential services.
AIR Relief, in collaboration with the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre, would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all donors, organisations, and individuals for their generous support, making these crucial interventions possible.
Together, AIR Relief remains committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
