This Monday; 10 April 2023; the Daughters of the Ummah (DOU) group hosted an event at the Darul Ihsan Centre in Sea Cow Lake for the Muslimah youth titled ‘Fikr for Zikr’.
Over 50 sisters between the ages 10-20 attended the 2-hour long youth initiative programme, in which the act of Zikr was explained and explored in informative length and detail.
Part of the event was a Zikr katham, in which attendees were asked to silently recite Istighfaar and Kalima Tayyib at length, respectively. The sisters were provided by DOU with a gift bag of colourful beads each, which they were encouraged to use to keep count of their Zikr.
Following the katham, the attendees worked together to list a number of easy good deeds to practice, such as learning an aspect of Deen and smiling, which was thereafter followed by a segment on healthy spiritual habits to practice. These habits include the abstinence from sins and being on time for one’s salaah, amongst many others.
Additionally, a five-point plan was presented in order to help the youth find steadfastness in their Ramadan and prayer schedules.
The event closed with a talk by the emir of the Darul Ihsan Centre; Mufti Zubair Bayat; who stressed the importance of benefitting from the last 10 days of the Holy Month, as well as eagerly seeking Laylatul-Qadr. He encouraged the sisters to go over everything that the hosts spoke about during the event and to adopt their important guidance for a fulfilling lifestyle in and outside of Ramadan.
A short Q&A followed thereafter.
The Darul Ihsan Youth Initiative events are free to attend and can be accessed by prior arrangement via the Darul Ihsan Centre.
