On Thursday, 16 February 2017 the Centre’s Relief Team, together with eight female volunteers, facilitated a lunch-time feeding of 1,200 learners at the school.

The request for the meals came from the Principal of the school, Mr B P Ndlovu, who said the school is situated in a poverty stricken area with a high unemployment rate.

The Principal added that due to the dire economic situation of the area, particularly the schooling community, fund raising efforts for any welfare relief for the learners of the school were limited.

Mr S Khumalo, an official from the Department of Education and the Councillor of the ward, Mr M Mthembu, and other educators were present for the feeding programme.

All 1,200 learners expressed elation and satisfaction in consuming the meals.

Staff members, the Principal and officials expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Darul Ihsan Centre for providing the nourishing meal for the learners with special thanks to the volunteer females for their assistance.
