The ‘Drug Awareness Drive’ (DAD) is an educational initiative of Darul Ihsan Centre to educate our society on the impact of the social scourge of drugs and substance abuse. ‘DAD’ most recently hosted a drug awareness campaign in the greater Chatsworth area on 1st and 2nd September 2016.

Commencing on Friday morning, the programme took place at two schools in Chatsworth, namely, Al Ihsaan Boys & Al Ihsaan Girls with special guest and expert Maulana Limbada of Crescent of Hope Rehabilation Centre in attendance.

Alhamdulillah, the programmes were well received and the Principal of the Al Ihsaan Boys school commended the presentation with a request for a follow-up programme.

Maulana Limbada, the Director of the Crescent of Hope Girls Rehabilitation Centre in De Deur, was the guest speaker for the programme. Maulana also conducted Jumuah at the Shallcross Masjid with further references to drug awareness in his talk.

On Friday, after Isha, ‘DAD’ presented a well-attended interactive programme for the youth at Masjid Ashrafiyya in Unit 11. The programme continued with breakfast at the Darul Uloom Nu’maaniya on Saturday morning. The Ulama of the Darul Uloom actively engaged with Maulana Limbada on many questions related to challenges in the community.

This was followed by an educational workshop for educators , parent and community members on Saturday morning at Masjid Ashrafiyya.

At the workshop many of our attendee teachers and sisters expressed their deep concern about the scourge of drug and substance abuse in the area.

May Allah Ta’ala accept this humble effort and make it a means of guidance for the Ummah.

Recordings of the programme can be downloaded from our website www.darulihsan.com. Audio recordings are also available in CD format from the Al Ihsan Bookshop at 031 5777868.
