Darul Ihsan Centre, through its ‘Operation H20’ initiative to supply potable water to drought stricken communities, continued its outreach in the Intanda Rural Reserve – an area within the greater Inanda Township of KwaZulu-Natal.
Early on Sunday morning, 24 April 2016, the Operation H20 team, Ulama members of Darul Ihsan Centre – with assistance of Ulama members from the Verulam Muslim Society - and about 50 volunteers, comprising mostly youth, with 15,000 litres of bottle water, departed for Intanda.
On arrival at the Kaloo Bus Depot 5,760 litres of bottled water were distributed among the residents in the immediate vicinity and another 9,240 litres were distributed further into the Reserve. On a warm day, the team made its way deep into the windy dirt roads of the reserve to reach the people and hand over the water to them at their doorstep. Additionally some 700 sachets of water were distributed amongst the children in the area with 300 packets of biscuits distributed among the residents.
The distribution was facilitated in conjunction with the Kaloo family headed by Brother Naeem Kaloo. Residents and community leaders of the area expressed their sincere gratitude to the ‘Operation H20’ team for the bottled water.
