Continuing with its water distribution drive, ‘Operation H2O,’ an initiative of Darul Ihsan Centre, on Sunday 13 March 2016 distributed 25 000 litres of bottled water to about 3000 households in Greytown.
The ‘Operation H2O’ team – comprising Darul Ihsan Centre staff members and about 100 volunteers/donors converged at the Greytown Masjid as the central point for the distribution of bottled water for the relief of the many residents – especially those in rural areas – of Greytown. Prior arrangements were made with members of the local municipality and authorities to ensure safe and systematic distribution of the bottled water.
Two main areas, Accacia Park and Enhlahlakahle, were targeted from where the distribution was coordinated to several different locations – particularly to those who could not commute to the distribution points.
The ‘Muslim Empowerment Fund’ (MEF) – a community upliftment initiative of Darul Ihsan Centre – also distributed 360 stationery packs, 50 school bags, 500 biscuit packs and 500 snack packs to school children in the area.
Residents and community leaders of the area were overwhelmed by the gesture and expressed their sincere appreciation to Darul Ihsan Centre for the initiative.
Once again, such relief programmes are only possible through the generous and on-going contributions of the Muslim community. Darul Ihsan Centre and the ‘Operation H2O' team place on record their sincere thanks and appreciation to all who contributed, assisted and made dua for this noble effort. The voluntary assistance of the youth and children was tremendous.
We humbly appeal to families and individuals to continue their dedicated support so that more communities can receive desperately needed drinking water at this time of drought and in this way earn the pleasure of Allah Ta'ala and His protection.
