Darul Ihsan Centre’s youth wing, ‘Youth of the Ummah’ (‘YOU’) has been hosting educational, spiritual and activity programmes for boys for several years.
Alhamdulillah, in 2013 a fresh initiative for teenage girls was launched under the banner ‘Daughters of the Ummah’ (‘DOU’).
The project was initiated by many requests from community members/parents who expressed a real need for such a programme for their daughters. Consequently ‘DOU’ launched its first programme in December 2013 followed by another in April 2014.
On Thursday, 9 October 2014 ‘DOU’ hosted its third programme – ‘Activity Day,’ for girls at the NMJ Islamic Centre, Durban.
Seventy girls – between 12 and 20 years old – from Durban and surrounding areas participated in the one-day activity programme. Nine young ‘DOU’ volunteer females co-ordinated and facilitated the various activities of the programme.
Amongst the days’ activities were team building exercises and group challenges convened for the keen participants.
