The distribution process is carefully planned and co-ordinated with care centres, clinics, old age homes and other such centres where a genuine need is established.
Members from Darul Ihsan’s ‘Muslim Empowerment Fund’ went to Cape Town for a distribution of blankets in Tafelsig. Distributions also took place in certain areas of Gauteng like Evaton West and Vanderbijlpark.
The distribution of blankets is generally accompanied by the presence of key public figures from local councils with the presence of the respective councillors, mayors and media playing an important role in giving recognition to Muslims for their support and concern for the plight of those in need.
This year a total of 4 353 blankets were distributed throughout South Africa. Though the distribution was slightly less than in previous years, the generous contributions from Muslims has helped many old and deserving people to feel warm this winter. May Allah Ta’ala bless all those who contributed - with Barakah and prosperity.
Another annual project of Darul Ihsan Centre is the national distribution of dates known as ‘Sponsor-a-Kajoor Pack’. Generous contributions from the public - who are eager to reap the tremendous reward of feeding a fasting person - drives this programme that sees thousands of kilograms of dates distributed. With the Grace of Allah Ta’ala, this year an amount of 10 700 kg (1 kg packs) of dates were distributed nationally. The distribution programme is well planned and co-ordinated by the Centre’s Ulama and volunteers who ensure that the dates are purchased, packed and reach the recipients promptly to be enjoyed for iftar in Ramadan.
We thank all the donors and well-wishers for their continuous support in sustaining these projects.
