The blanket distribution was done in conjunction with both Ulama and business community members of Ficksburg. With an early start in an area called Meqheleng the team was warmly received by the people of Ficksburg.
At the Meqleheng community hall 300 blankets were distributed to mostly the elderly in the area. Those who received the blankets were delighted and thankful, especially in view of the fact that the area experiences fierce winters as it is nestled at the base of the Maluti Mountains on the border of Lesotho.
Additionally, stationery packs were given to children who were present. Snacks and refreshments were given to all those that attended the programme.
This interaction and contribution of the MEF on behalf of the Muslims of South Africa is greatly appreciated and well received in these impoverished regions of our country.
After the distribution the Ficksburg community facilitated an interview for members of the MEF team on Setsoto Radio (93.7 FM) where they were given an opportunity of speaking on the activities of Darul Ihsan Centre.
The MEF continues its sustained programme of relief and poverty alleviation among the poor in our country and we kindly request your continued duas and support for these initiatives.
