(2730 blankets distributed thus far)
This is the first year – in our five years of the “Sponsor-a-Blanket” project – that we distributed blankets across our borders in Swaziland.
The Darul Ihsan team went to Swaziland on Saturday 18 May – in its annual ‘Sponsor-a-Blanket’ drive.
The distribution of blankets was done in conjunction with Brother Usman Mansur of Prime Bakery in Mbabane, Swaziland. A total of 450 blankets were distributed to the elderly from the Chiefdoms of Dvokolwako, Kutsiimleni and Mbelebeleni in Swaziland.
The blankets were distributed at a presentation at the Mkhiweni Inkhundla Community Centre in the rural area of Luvo, about 30 km from Manzini.
Three Swaziland MP’s were present at the distribution. Minister Rodgers Mamba, the Honourable MP of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, personally oversaw the distribution.
Maulana Imran Vaid from Darul Ihsan Centre co-ordinated the project whilst Mufti Shafiq Jakhura and Brother Yusuf Rawat were also present on behalf of Darul Ihsan Centre.
At the presentation Mufti Jakhura gave an enlightening talk on the significance of community work in Islam and Darul Ihsan’s annual ‘Winter Warmth’ outreach.
The community expressed appreciation to Darul Ihsan and thanked them for this initiative.
May Allah reward our donors, supporters and well-wishers.
Thus far, 2730 blankets have been distributed, Alhamdullilah.
As we continue the ‘Winter Warmth’ project, a further appeal is made for your support and contributions.
