On Monday 1 October 2012, the ‘Youth of the Ummah’ (Y.O.U.), the Youth wing of Darul Ihsan Centre hosted an educational hike at the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve in Kloof.
A group of 54 young Muslims including 48 youth, 6 facilitators, Ulama from Darul Ihsan and a few volunteers departed early in the morning in good spirits for the hike from Masjid-ut-Taqwa, Sea Cow Lake.
Participants were divided into groups of seniors and juniors. The senior participants braved the more enduring ‘yellow’ trail whilst the juniors enjoyed the less strenuous ‘blue’ trail along the bank of the Moweni River. Both hiking parties enjoyed spectacular views of the gorge and waterfalls along the route.
After Zuhr Salah and lunch a ‘Power Point’ presentation was conducted on environmental wastage and the need to move away from self-enrichment towards the service of mankind.
Thereafter a ‘Q and A’ session was presented by Mufti Shafique Jakhura and answers, in the form of advices relating to youth matters, were given. The ‘Q and A’ session proved to be very beneficial for all participants.
The response and feedback from the hike was encouraging and ‘Y.O.U.’ plans to host similar events in the future, Insha Allah. May Allah accept the contributions and efforts of the sponsors, volunteers, participants and all those instrumental in making this programme a success.
