As part of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre's seasonal projects, the 'Sponsor-a-Blanket' initiative rolls out blankets for needy communities as temperatures plummet across South Africa; specifically, the KwaZulu-Natal province.
At the beginning of July, the Darul Ihsan Outreach Team continued its annual Blanket Drive in earnest across the province.
In the Kwa-Dukuza Clinic, Okhahlamba, 100 blankets and other essential items were distributed to the community.
Blankets were also distributed amongst patients at the Dukuza Clinic, Bergville. Both Blanket Drive initiatives were met with letters of heartfelt appreciation and a desire to continue collaborating with the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre to enhance these efforts.
Additionally, last week, the Darul Ihsan Outreach Team; in partnership with SAPS Newlands; distributed 35 blankets and snack packs to vulnerable children at the Lake Haven Homes, Sea Cow Lake, Durban.
Thus far in the year, the Outreach Team has distributed 1500 blankets to deserving individuals in some of the coldest places in the country, including Vryheid, Qwa Qwa, Kokstad and Newclare in Gauteng.
With the mercy of Allah and the kind and generous assistance of donors, the Centre hopes to reach more people and areas, providing essential relief this cold season to vulnerable communities in need.
