The programme opened with a beautiful Qirat recitation and accompanying translation. This was then followed by an inspirational talk that encouraged the youth to look for and appreciate the various bounties in nature that Allah created, stressing that there are great emotional and spiritual benefits to these actions. The team highlighted the importance of strengthening one’s bond with their Creator, inspiring the youth to partake in simple activities such as self reflection, connecting with family members, and seeking knowledge - amongst many others - this holiday to build oneself emotionally, physically, and psychologically.

Following the awe-inspiring seminar, attendees were then directed to an outdoor area wherein trained fitness instructors provided fun and energising exercise tips and activities. These included balancing, stretching, and coordination practices to help keep them physical during the holidays.

The youth were thereafter provided a pot and plants each, with which they were tasked with planting and decorating as they desired, prompting them to relax and be creative.

The event ended with a variety of refreshments, allowing attendees to socialise with the DOU team as well as one another.
An attendee commented, “It was good. I liked the planting.”

“It was nice, the exercise was the best part for me,” said another. “And the planting. It’s hard to decide.”
