In this Hadith the literal meaning is not intended. Rather, the meaning of having “long necks” is that they will occupy distinct positions of honour. The first Muazzin of Islam was Hazrat Bilaal (Radiyallahu Anhu). His position in Islam is unique and exclusive on account of him being the first Muazzin of Islam and the Muazzin of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
Hadhrat Abdullah bin Abdir Rahmaan bin Abi Sa’sa’ah relates that on one occasion Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (Radiyallahu Anhu) said to him: “I see that you like being with your livestock (i.e. grazing them) in the open fields. When you are amongst your livestock or in the open fields and the time of Salaah comes and you wish to call out the Azaan, then you should raise your voice and call out the Azaan, for certainly jinn, human or any other creature that hears the voice of the Muazzin as far as it reaches will testify on his behalf on the day of Qiyaamah.” Hadhrat Abu Saeed (Radhiallahu Anhu) says that I heard this from Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). (Bukhari #609)
Hadhrat ibn Abbaas (Radiyallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The one who calls out the Azaan for seven years with Ikhlaas and the hope of attaining reward receives the guarantee of freedom from the fire of Jahannum. (Tirmizi #206)
