Also known as the Salman Al-Farsi Well, the Al-Faqir Well; in the Alya area of Madinah; has been reopened.
Improvements to the well include the installation of an iron fence around it, water paths, as well as reinforcement of the bridge and main gate with local stone from the area to maintain the construction’s original design. Additionally, palm trees have been planted and stone benches constructed in the internal courtyard.
According to historical researcher Fouad Al-Maghamisi, the Al-Faqir well’s history dates back over 14 centuries and is tied to the story of a slave by the name Salman Al-Farsi who worked in an orchard in the area at the time. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) paid the owner of the orchard a sum, freeing the slave. The site was thereafter known as the Salman Al-Farsi well.
