PRETORIA: President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared 1 November 2021 a public holiday due to local government elections.
South Africans are set to go to the polls on the first Monday of next month to decide who they want to lead their local municipalities.
Ramaphosa is requesting employers to allow their workers to exercise their constitutional right to vote. He has also called on all registered voters to fulfil their responsibility by using the opportunity to go out and cast their ballots.
The president believes that voting empowers citizens to elect better leaders and influence service delivery.
Votes will be cast at the polling stations in the wards where individuals are registered.
