Indonesia cancels Hajj for its citizens

Indonesia: Indonesia has become the first country to cancel Hajj for its citizens due to ongoing fears over the Covid-19.

It is the second year in a row that the pilgrimage has been cancelled by the country.

The south east Asian nation provides the largest number of Haajis each year, ahead of Pakistan and India.

Saudi Arabia itself is yet to announce final plans for Hajj 2021, but many countries – particularly those that provided the biggest numbers – are in the process of confirming their own plans in a bid to give early clarity to their citizens.
