Record High for Exports Reached

The main products contributing to South Africa’s exports in 2025 included maize, table grapes, apples and pears, citrus, fruit juices, wine, berries, sugar, nuts, and wool. Stone fruits are a new addition with the latest trade agreement the country signed with China, wherein fruits and nuts accounted for approximately 26% of the total agricultural exports during this time.

In a statement, Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen said, “While agricultural exports to the United States declined sharply by 36% in the fourth quarter of 2025, as a direct result of high tariffs, our diversification strategy has clearly borne fruit. Strong growth to BRICS+ countries, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and SADC [South African Development Community] more than offset those losses.”
