With the DA and EFF taking the controversial issue to the Western Cape High Court, the planned 0.5% VAT rate increase will no longer take place on 1 May 2025.

The National Treasury said, “The decision to forgo the increase follows extensive consultations with political parties, and careful consideration of the recommendations of the parliamentary committees.”
