Preceding this attack on the hospital, 15 humanitarian workers were killed in Gaza, including 8 from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, one staff member from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), and six of the Palestinian Civil Defense.
“These individuals were on a rescue mission on the morning of March 23rd when they were deliberately fired upon by Israeli military forces,” said the department. “Deliberate attacks on medics and humanitarian workers are prohibited by international law and constitute war crimes. First responders, like civilians and non-combatants, are never legitimate targets.”
As of right now, over 51,000 civilians have been killed in Gaza as a result of brutal Israeli attacks, and injuring over 116,500 since the war’s inception.
