Strongly Opposed to Nudist Beach

According to recent reports the Hibiscus Coast Municipality is considering an application for the establishment of a “nudist beach” in Trafalgar.

We, Darul Ihsan Centre - a welfare, education and religious organisation – want to express our strong disapproval of and objection to the possibility of such a development.

Beaches are public spaces and, as such, are inclusive for use by all individuals, families, children, tourists, groups, etc. and not for an exclusive group – particularly when one considers that this group goes outside the bounds of common ‘decency’ in what is overwhelmingly a conservative, moral and religious society.

The pro-international tourism and economic advantage arguments for such a “nudist beach” - which are the domain of a few – are not that of the masses and certainly not that of the majority of the residents in Trafalgar and local communities.

No matter how harmless and natural these so-called sun-lovers perceive nudity to be in a public space – one cannot overlook the issues of moral decay, indecency, pornography and, of course, the obvious sexuality of nudity in a society which is riddled with rape and sex crimes.

While humanity has debased itself on many fronts, the last line of human respect, dignity and modesty is one’s garb.

Exporting nudity from the confines of privacy into a public space will aggravate the degeneration of a rapidly depleting social fabric.

The authorisation of such a beach will be an encroachment on the freedom and space of the residents of this area and, moreover, a source of embarrassment for all of those who are proud of their natural surroundings.
