DURBAN: In a ground breaking development, Darul Ihsan has opened the first charity shop in Overport, Durban this past week.
The Al Ihsan Charity Shop, a community initiative with an Islamic ethos, aims to benefit the local community by providing goods at an affordable price.
The store currently stocks items like crockery, plastic ware and ornaments, clothing, purses and handbags – to name a few.
The Al Ihsan Book & Gift store will also open shortly at the same site providing a range of Islamic books and Islamic items that can be conveniently purchased in Overport.
“Alhumdulillah, our plans to get a charity shop off the ground have finally come to fruition,” the organisation’s Moulana Ahmed Kathrada said. “The opening of this store is phase one of our plans that we have for the area and we make dua to Allah Ta’ala that He accepts our efforts and makes this project of benefit to the community.
“We would also like to thank the Capital Group for making this initiative possible. They have been exceptionally helpful towards this initiative and we are extremely grateful for their magnanimous contribution.”
The store is open seven days a week and the address is 150 Sparks Road/Moses Kotane Road, Shop 1B, Overport - D&D Heights. (opposite Checkstar)
