Darul Ihsan enjoys successful Ramadan Outreach Programmes

Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre has completed its Outreach and Feeding Programme audit for the month of Ramadan with plenty of positive feedback following strong efforts to serve the community.

The organisation was involved in three primary projects in this category over the last few weeks, namely the Daily Iftar Feeding Programme, the Eid Day Feeding Programme and the Sponsor-a-Kajoor Pack.

Under the guidance of Project Head, Abdul Saeed Sheik, nearly 35,000 people at around 20 sites benefitted from these initiatives.

The areas on the daily Iftar roster were Malagazi Islamic Centre, Al Ihsan Musallah (Ibnis Rd), Bester Musallah (Phoenix), Kenville, Westrich, Puntans Hill, Masjid Bilal, Castlehill, Phola Masjid, Lindelani A, Lindelani C, Inanda Islamic A and Umlazi.

The above venues would receive dates, savouries, sauces, hot meals, juices, fruits, chocolates, sweets, chips and biscuits, together with disposable utensils every evening during Ramadan. A total of 1030 people were fed daily.

Many of the same areas also benefitted from the Eid food distributions, which was held on Friday, 14 May. The areas of distributions were Malagazi Islamic Centre, Seaview, Hillary, Bellair, Kenville, Westrich, Puntans Hill, Castlehill Masjid, Phola Masjid, Lindelani A, Lindelani C and Inanda Islamic A.

Hot meals and cooldrinks were handed out to 2250 members of these communities on the day of Eid.

“The feedback we have received has been overwhelming,” Sheik said. “Alhumdulillah, there were so many people that benefitted through these two projects and we would really like to thank our donors for making this possible.

“Their contributions have brought smiles to the faces of thousands of people in need.”

The annual Sponsor-a-Kajoor Pack initiative was once again well received this year. There were 11 250 kilograms of dates distributed nationally during the month of Ramadan.

The main distribution areas were Madrasahs, Masaajid, correctional service centres, families and also Dawah Centres in South Africa and Maputo, Mozambique.

“We did exceptionally well once again in terms of reaching our target with the Sponsor-a-Kajoor Pack project,” Sheik added. “May Allah Ta’ala reward all those who made this drive a success with abundant blessings and barakah.”
