Close onto 250 youth, including huffaz, students and professionals converged at Musjidut Taqwa, Sea Cow Lake for the ‘Youth Night’ programme on 4 August 2012. The programme has become a calendar event, being held every year in Ramadan for the past four years. To set the tone for the night, two melodious recitations of the Noble Quran were rendered followed by a nazm recital. The beautiful recitations touched the hearts of those present and evoked sentiments of praise and takbeer.

This was followed by the main part of the programme, the “Q & A session” with Mufti Zubair Bayat. In this session young men are given the unique opportunity to field any question they would want to and have the answer given on the spot. The programme was lively and generated many pertinent queries concerning the youth. The questions were indicative of the potential of the youth and the challenges they face. Over 100 questions were fielded.

The programme continued with some light discussions on character building and anecdotes from the lives of our pious elders. Thereafter a joint khatam of the Quran Kareem was done, some Zikrullah followed by a dua.

The youth were, as expected, lively and helped themselves to the refreshments that were provided all night. The atmosphere was friendly, unifying and spiritual.

Tahajjud salah was performed at 03:15am and thereafter Mufti Zubair treated the youth to a soothing session of Zikrullah and an uplifting dua that centered on the youth.

We ask Allah Ta’ala to accept the programme and make it a means of advancing the potential and aspirations of our youth.
