He made Hijrat to both Abysinnia and Madeenah Munawwarah. Many Sahabah y narrate Hadith from him including his son. He became a Shaheed in the Battle of Muta in 8 A.H. He was 41 years old at the time and approximately 90 wounds were found on his body. He was married to Hazrat Asma bint Umays (R) who later on married Hazrat Abu Bakr (R) and thereafter Hazrat Ali t.

Hazrat Baraa ibn Azib (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said to Hazrat Jafar (R) in a lengthy Hadith, “You are similar to me in form and in character.” (Tirmizi)

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (R) narrates that Hazrat Jafar (R) used to love the poor and would sit with them and he would speak to them and they would speak to him. (As a result of this) Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) used to call him Abul Masakeen (father of the poor). (Tirmizi)

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (R) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “I saw (Hazrat) Jafar (R) flying in Jannah with the Malaikah (angels).” (Tirmizi). This was after he had become Shaheed. This was the reason for him being titled Tayyar (one who flies).

Hazrat ibn Umar (R) narrates that when Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would greet the son of Hazrat Jafar (R) he (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would say, “As Salaamu Alayka O’ the son of Zul Janahayn (the one with two wings).” (Bukhari) Hazrat Jafar (R) was blessed with these wings after death to fly with the Malaikah in Jannah.
