Some of the virtues of Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA)

Q: What are some of the virtues of Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu)?

A: The virtues of Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) are many. Some of them are listed below:
In the Quran Allah Ta’ala says, “… the second of the two, when both were in the cave (and Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)) said to his companion (Abu Bakr Radiyallahu Anhu), ‘Do not grieve. Verily Allah is with us.’”
The companionship of Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu) with Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is confirmed absolutely by this verse. Every word of this Quranic statement attests to the lofty status of Hazrat Abu Bakr (Radiyallahu Anhu).

Once, during the khilaafat of Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu), the Sahabah began discussing the personality of Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq (Radiyallahu Anhu) in the presence of Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu). Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) was overwhelmed with emotion and wept profusely saying: “How I wish that my entire life’s endeavour and sacrifice were exchanged for just one day and night of the life of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq (Radiyallahu Anhu). The night I am prepared to bargain my entire life for, is the night he travelled with Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) to the cave of Thawr during the journey of Hijrat.” In another narration it is recorded that Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) said: “That night of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq (Radhiyallahu Anhu) is greater than Hazrat Umar and the entire family of Hazrat Umar.” (Mishkat)

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (Radiyallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) once said to Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq (Radiyallahu Anhu): “You will be my companion at the haudh (of Kauthar) and were my companion in the cave (during the journey of hijrat). (Tirmizi)

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “No one has done any favour to me except that I have reciprocated him, besides Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq (Radiyallahu Anhu). For the immense favours that he has done to me, Allah Ta’ala will recompense him on the day of Qiyaamah. No person’s wealth has benefitted me as much as the wealth of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddeeq (Radhiallahu Anhu). (Tirmizi)
