Letter to The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

The Honourable Ambassador
The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
201 Leyds Street, Arcadia

RE: Oppression and persecution of Rohingya Muslim population

Dear Honourable Ambassador

Darul Ihsan Centre, a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO-93002850), would like to place on record our outrage to the Myanmar Embassy in South Africa at the inhumanity of the Myanmar government and ethnic cleansing of the Rohingya Muslim population.

The Rohingya remain persecuted by the government of Myanmar in the form of systematic persecution, rape, torture and murder at the hands of the Myanmar military junta.

The recent campaign by the Myanmar government against the Rohingya signals its contempt and disregard for the sanctity of human life.

It is shocking that Myanmar’s State Counsellor, Aung San Suu Kyi - a Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1991 - has been conspicuously silent on the Rohingya issue.

Darul Ihsan Centre, together with all other civil society organisations, calls on the Myanmar government to immediately halt all attacks against the defenceless Rohingya and to grant them equal rights with the rest of Myanmar society.

Sincerely yours

Darul Ihsan Media Desk
