Food provision for victims of recent floods

The recent spate of rains caused flooding in certain areas in the greater Durban area affected many people. On Monday, 16 December 2019 Mr Zamani Mtshali from eThekwini Disaster Management - after making an assessment of their needs - contacted the Relief Team of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre with an urgent request for food relief for flood victims who were housed at a community hall within the eThekweni Municipality.

Within three hours the Relief Team of the Centre delivered the food hamper packs to officials of eThekwini Disaster Management for distribution to the affected persons.

On Thursday 19 December 2019, the Relief Team, together with Mr Themba Mdalose from eThekwini Disaster Management, proceeded to the Jabulani Hall in Verulam and handed food hampers to many others who were displaced by the recent floods in the area.

Ms Anita Zondi, a displaced victim, expressed her deep appreciation to the Relief Team on behalf of all who received the food hampers. eThekwini Disaster Management officials also expressed their sincere thanks to the Centre’s Relief Team for providing the food hampers in the need of the hour.

The Relief Team of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre works closely with the eThekwini Disaster Management to provide relief in the event of civil emergencies. Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre thanks all contributors and volunteers for their unwavering support in making these relief outreaches possible.
