Relief Outreaches in June 2019

The provision of meals throughout the year and distribution of blankets to the indigent during winter are ongoing projects of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre.

On Sunday 2 June 2019 the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre’s Relief team - together with community volunteers – distributed hot meals, potato crisps, sweets, fruit and ice lollies to 400 residents in the Malagazi area south of Durban.

Reschika, a local resident and others based in Malagazi, assisted and coordinated the efficient distribution of the meals and snacks to the residents. During the distribution of meals there is always amenable interaction between the team members, volunteers and residents of the area.

Abdul Saeed Shaik, Head of Relief Operations of the Centre, is often humbled by the many messages he receives vis WhatsApp for the distribution of meals, etc.

“I would like to thank uncle Abdul of Darul Ihsan for the delicious meals, and other items provided, we appreciate what you’ll do for us, we really enjoyed the food. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again soon. Also, thanks Reschika on behalf of the people of Malagazi.”

Learners and teachers from the Orient Islamic School often join the Relief Team of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre in community outreaches.

Foundation Phase learners and teachers from the School – in conjunction with the Relief Team - on Tuesday, 11 June 2019 visited the Wiggins Primary School, in Mayville, Durban to distribute 120 blankets to Foundation Phase learners at the school.

Ms Mhlongo, the Principal of the Wiggins School, warmly welcomed the Relief Team, learners and teachers of Orient School.

She expressed her deep gratitude for the distribution of blankets to the learners at her school – many of whom come from indigent homes.

On Thursday 13 June 2019 in another outreach the Relief Team - in conjunction with both educators and learners from Orient Islamic School - distributed 120 blankets to learners at the Greyville Primary School in Durban.

Mr Jacobs, the Principal of Greyville School and all staff members, welcomed all of us and thanked the Relief Team for choosing his school for the distribution of Blankets.

These outreaches of Darul Ihsan Centre are made possible through the generous and ongoing support and contributions of the Muslim community.
