In a horrific fire incident at the Kennedy Road informal settlement on Friday, 27 July 2018 there was one fatality and 250 shacks were completely burnt to the ground.

The Relief Team of Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre was informed by Mr Zamani Mtshali of the Ethekwini Disaster Management Team of the tragic incident with a request for relief aid for the affected residents of the settlement.
