Al Ihsan Relief (AIR) rises to the need of the hour in aftermath of storm

Al Ihsan Relief (AIR), in conjunction with Darul Ihsan Centre, conducted a series of relief operations in the surrounding areas of Durban for communities affected by the recent storm.

The storm damage was extensive resulting in the tragic loss of the lives of eleven people.

The Al Ihsan Relief team - joined by many volunteers who network with AIR - worked around the clock to bring relief in the form of the distribution of blankets and the provision of hot meals to displaced persons.

Blankets were handed to 40 persons at the Bluff Community Hall, 60 at the Montclair Community Hall, 250 at the Umlazi Community Hall and 70 residents at the Cato Crest informal settlement.

Hot meals were provided for 100 persons in Summerfield (Montclair), 450 at the ‘Transit Camp’ in Isispingo, 350 at the Isipingo informal settlement, 800 at the Umlazi Mega City Community Hall, 550 at Cocobar and 350 in Mnylena in Chatsworth.

The AIR Team serves on the Technical Task Team of Ethekwini Disaster Management and its ‘Relief Team’ is available on call 24/7 for any civil emergency situation.

These outreaches are made possible through the generous contributions and ongoing support of the Muslim community.
