Blankets distributed to learners at school in Umbumbulu

Darul Ihsan Centre – in its ongoing winter ‘Sponsor-a-Blanket’ campaign – distributed blankets to learners at the Sompukwane Secondary School in Umbumbulu on Wednesday, 03 May 2017.

The school, with a roll of 800 pupils, is situated in an indigent rural area of Umbumbulu with many of the learners coming from disadvantaged households in the locality. Also, many learners at the school are orphans and some come from ‘child-headed’ families.

The Principal of the school, Mr E S Mlambo – with his management team – identified 200 of the most deserving learners to whom blankets were distributed.

Other officials who attended the blanket distribution event were Mr Mvuyana (Circuit Manager), Mrs Mthembu (Circuit Adviser), Mr Sizakhele Dladla (Learner Support Agent) and Mr Sandile Dhlamini (Ward Committee Representative).

Mr E S Mthembu, his management team, the staff of the school and all officials present expressed their sincere gratitude to Darul Ihsan Centre for providing the blankets.

The ‘Sponsor-a-Blanket’ campaign of Darul Ihsan Centre is an annual winter programme that has – over the years – delivered thousands of blankets nationally to needy communities in some of the coldest areas in the country.

These outreaches are made possible through the generous contributions and ongoing support of the Muslim community.
