‘Al Ihsan Clinic & Wellness Day’ at Thringspost in Zululand

In the interest of better community health, Darul Ihsan Centre - through its Muslim Empowerment Fund (MEF) - hosted the ‘Al Ihsan Clinic & Wellness Day’ at Thringspost in the Maphumalo area of Zululand on Sunday 04 December 2016.


The primary focus/intention of this project is to provide general health check-ups and treatment for those who may not be able to commute to, access or afford such services in their respective areas.

Maulana Hashim Gori, a member of the Zululand Islamic Society, contacted the MEF team to provide the service in the area.

Brother Yusuf Kajee, a local businessman, made available space in his store and warehouse to facilitate the ‘Clinic & Wellness Day’ programme for all patients.

Five doctors, two pharmacists, three nurses and about twenty others from Durban volunteered their services and assistance at no cost. A well-stocked dispensary was also set up.

Ulama and staff members of Darul Ihsan Centre coordinated the programme and assisted for all allied duties.

The clinic day began at 9:00AM with the registration/admission of about 100 senior - mostly pensioner - female and male patients. All patients were first screened followed by a check-ups starting with nebuliser tests, blood sugar level checks, blood pressure tests, etc.

Free medication was administered where required and prescriptions were also handed to patients requiring specific attention at public health facilities.

Refreshments were provided by mid-morning and hot lunch packs were handed to all attending patients. The clinic day programme ended at 1:00PM.

Two Ndunas from the community also attended the clinic day programme and they expressed their sincere thanks to Darul Ihsan Centre for providing the service to senior members of the community.

Many of the attending patients were thankful and overwhelmed by the ‘Clinic & Wellness Day’ organised by the Muslim Empowerment Fund.

The ‘Clinic & Wellness Day’ community project was made possible through the generous and on-going contributions of the Muslim community.

Darul Ihsan Centre place on record their sincere thanks to all who contributed, assisted and made dua for this noble effort.

In particular the Centre appreciates and sincerely thanks the entire medical team and all other volunteers for the fruition and success of this project.
