In Partnership With The ‘Feed A Pupil’ Programme, Al-Falaah College Distributes Over One Million Slices of Bread

Since the initiative’s inception more than a decade ago, in partnership with the Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre, the Bread Run Programme at Al-Falaah College has distributed over a million slices of bread to vulnerable communities across the Durban area.

In 2025, the school distributed more than 114 000 slices of bread – a total of 57 144 sandwiches – which helped it reach this record high. This year, the programme will exceed the million-slice mark.

Learners throughout every grade contribute to the preparation of the sandwiches, which takes place weekly. The Darul Ihsan Humanitarian Centre outreach team assists by ensuring the swift delivery and distribution of these packed meals to communities in need.

The Bread Run coordinator, Moulana Ismail Mulla, has deemed the project a humbling one, and praised the staff, learners, and parents for “embodying the values of compassion and service.”

The ‘Feed A Pupil’ programme seeks to uplift local communities, and fosters a spirit of dedication, compassion, dignity, and humanity for all those involved.
